Manitoba Moose fans dress up for ‘Superhero Day’ at the rink

Manitoba Moose fans flooded the rink on Louis Riel Day dressed as their favourite superheroes. Koby Mitchell has the story.

Manitoba Moose hosted Superhero Day for their fans to celebrate Louis Riel Day in Winnipeg.

Fans of all ages spent an afternoon at the rink dressed as their favourite superheroes.

“Being able to include both sports and also have something like this where they can be a little more creative, dress up, merge multiple interests into one is unreal,” said CJ McNicholl, owner of Could JA art.

It’s events like this that allow everyone to explore their imaginations and channel their inner superheroes from Buzz Lightyear, Wolverine, Iron Man to Wonder Woman.

It’s not just kids who dressed up.

“Just seeing these kids walk up, you feel like a superhero. They look at you and their eyes light up and they’re like, ‘oh my god.’ It’s the greatest day of their life. You can tell. It’s awesome. You can’t beat that,” said one participant dressed up as Iron man.

“When you where young the world was so big. You had no cares. And this day for the Moose and for all the kids. It brings us right back to those times. It’s wonderful, we love doing it,” said another in Batman costume.

“I dress up as an adult because it gives me an escape from my like super serious day to day life. And I just love bringing a smile to peoples faces,” says sporting a Wonder Woman makeover.
