Police seek suspect in Winnipeg fast-food robbery

Police are searching for a suspect following an early-morning robbery at a fast-food restaurant on Henderson Highway.
Winnipeg police say officers were called to the restaurant in the 200 block of Henderson Highway near Poplar Ave. at about 5:38 a.m. on Saturday. The suspect, who was armed with an edged weapon, went behind the counter, took the cash till, and fled the scene on foot.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man between 28 and 30 years old, approximately 5’5” tall with a small build. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket with a white stripe down the arms, dark pants, and carrying a dark backpack. Police say his face appeared to be covered.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Anyone with information, including dash-cam or surveillance footage from the area at the time, is asked to contact the unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
