Two arrested for assault of store clerk in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police (WPS) have arrested a man and a woman for allegedly assaulting a convenience store employee Saturday.
Police say they were called to a store in the 400 block of Talbot Avenue regarding an incident involving 37-year-old Nico Randy Sylvestre and 40-year-old unidentified woman.
The duo had allegedly been involved in a dispute with the store clerk.
“During the dispute, the clerk was assaulted with various items obtained from within the store,” WPS said in a statement.
The suspects had left before police arrived but soon returned as officers were speaking to the employee.
“The two suspects returned to the store, attempted to make a false claim that they had been assaulted by the employee, and were subsequently arrested.”
The clerk received minor injuries from the assault and did not require medical attention.
Sylvestrehas been charged with Assault with a Weapon. He was detained in custody. The woman is facing a charge of Assault with a Weapon. She was released on an Undertaking.
