2 charged after random assault in Winnipeg hotel bar

Winnipeg police say two people have been charged after a man was assaulted at a hotel bar on Boxing Day.

WPS says the alleged incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, at a hotel bar along Kennedy Street.

Reports indicate that a man was confronted by three unknown individuals who started to punch, kick and choke him before fleeing when staff called police.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment in stable condition.

Police say they were able to take two people they believed to have been involved into custody on Dec. 28.

WPS has charged 36-year-old Lorraine Margaret Muswagon with aggravated assault, possession of a scheduled substance – cocaine, and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Additionally, 27-year-old Keenan Charles Moar was allegedly found to be in possession of crack cocaine, drug packaging materials, and $143 in cash at the time he was taken into custody, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
