Woman threatens security personnel with hatchet during Henderson Highway robbery, Winnipeg police say

A 30-year-old woman is accused of threatening security personnel with a hatchet during an alleged robbery at a store on Henderson Highway on Sunday morning.

The Winnipeg Police Service says around 11:30 a.m. the woman was leaving the store without paying for merchandise when security stopped her and began taking back the items.

Police allege that’s when the woman pulled out a hatchet and threatened them before leaving the store.

There were no injuries.

About 30 minutes later, police say officers found the woman nearby and arrested her. A hatchet was recovered, WPS says.

The woman was charged with robbery and failure to comply with the condition of an undertaking. She was also allegedly wanted on multiple warrants, including for breaking and entering.
