Man facing charges after driving into 2 people following argument: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a 30-year-old man has been charged after two people were hit by a vehicle Wednesday night.

WPS says just before 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, officers took a man into custody who had allegedly driven into two people.

Through the initial stages of an investigation, police learned that the man had met up with two other men for drinks. During this time, an argument occurred and escalated to the point where one of them got into their vehicle and sped towards the other two men, hitting them before fleeing the scene.

Police note that one of the men who was hit suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in unstable condition, before being upgraded to stable.

The other man, who was hit, was taken to hospital with minor injuries in stable condition.

The driver was reportedly found a short distance away, where he was taken into custody.

Police say he is facing several charges, including driving while impaired, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous driving, and assault with a weapon, to name a few.

An investigation is ongoing, and police are asking if anyone has any information to contact investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
