Escaped convict apprehended by Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police have apprehended a convict who escaped from the Stony Mountain Institution earlier this week.

Monday, the Correctional Service of Canada says it immediately contacted Stonewall RCMP when it discovered Jason David Vanwyck, 41, was missing from the federal institution.

Friday morning, CSC said in a tweet on X that Vanwyck was taken into custody by members of the Winnipeg Police Service.

An investigation regarding the circumstances of the escape is ongoing.
