2 in hospital after machete attack: Winnipeg police

An alleged machete attack sent a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old to the hospital Friday morning, Winnipeg police say.

Officers say it happened at Alverstone Street near Burnell Street, and responded to a report of an assault around 3:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found two people–a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man–suffering from injuries, and provided medical care until paramedics arrived.

The girl was taken to hospital in critical condition, while the man was taken in unstable condition. Both were later upgraded to stable, despite suffering serious injuries, according to police.

Investigators believe the two were assaulted by suspects, who fled the scene on foot before officers arrived at the scene.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
