Man arrested after break-in and police chase in Winnipeg

On January 5, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a break in was observed by security at a construction site in the 3900 block of Portage Avenue.

Police were called to the scene.

General patrol located a ford F350 truck with a Saskatchewan license plate on Portage near the Perimeter Highway, and attempted to stop the vehicle.

 The driver tried to flee, and police were forced to ram his car multiple times, before it came to a stop. 

No one was injured in the collisions.

A 25-year-old man from Saskatchewan was taken into custody and is now facing multiple charges.

The charges include three counts of assault of a police officer with a weapon, flight while being pursued by a peace officer, break and enter with intent, possession of a scheduled substance, as well as possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The suspect remains in custody.
