Winnipeg police investigating following man’s death after assault

Winnipeg police are investigating the death of a man who died after being assaulted Friday morning near a playground.
Around 4:36 a.m., WPS responded to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service regarding a man who had been assaulted near Dugas Street and De Bourmont Avenue.
Officers say the man had suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition. He later died of his injuries.
The Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation, and WPS hasn’t identified the man at this time.
