Man charged after stabbing in The Forks Thursday night

Winnipeg police say a 24-year-old man has been charged in connection to a stabbing that took place at The Forks.

Winnipeg Police Service says officers responded to a report of an assault around 10:45 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 25-year-old man suffering from serious upper body injuries. The officers then provided medical care, before the man was taken to hospital by paramedics in critical condition. Police note he was later upgraded to stable.

Through an investigation, police learned that the victim and suspect were known to each other prior to the stabbing. It is believed that they were involved in a dispute when it escalated leading to the stabbing.

Security in the area was also able to lead officers to the suspect, who was still in the area following the incident.

Since then, a 24-year-old man who was not named by police was charged with aggravated assault.
