Man facing 12 charges following traffic stop in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police says a 23-year-old man is facing 12 charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of weapons and illicit drugs.

WPS says around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, officers conducted a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue near McKenzie Street.

At the time, a 23-year-old man was driving with three passengers. While talking with the driver, police learned he did not have a valid driver’s license and was carrying an edged weapon.

All four people in the vehicle were taken into custody and police conducted a search of the vehicle were they found and seized the following items:

• Remington Model 700
• Loaded magazine
• .22 calibre bullets x 8
• Decorative bullet belt
• Black hunting knife
• 0.25 grams of crack cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $25)
• 2.05 grams of fentanyl (Estimated Street Value: $800)
• 1.00 grams of methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $50)
• 38.8 grams of cutting agent
• Drug packaging and paraphernalia

As a result, police have charged a 23-year-old man with 12 charges including possession of a weapon, and possession of a scheduled substance.

Police note the other three were released.
