Edgar Bear homicide: ‘dangerous’ suspect arrested, charged with manslaughter

By News Staff

Winnipeg police arrested a 25-year-old woman this week in connection with the fatal shooting of a Peguis First Nation man earlier this year.

Homicide investigators say Edgar Allan Bear, 56, was found dead at a home on Selkirk Avenue on March 18. He was from Peguis but lived in Winnipeg, police say.

Breanne Joan Bruyere, who police previously described as “dangerous,” was arrested Monday. She was charged with manslaughter and obstructing justice, and detained in custody.

Investigators believe Bear and Bruyere knew each other.

Another suspect, 27-year-old Maxim Dale Garneau, was already charged with second-degree murder in Bear’s death. Garneau is also facing charges in two other homicides.
