Man charged in connection to fatal 2023 collision near Lac du Bonnet

Manitoba RCMP says one person has been charged in connection to a fatal collision near Lac du Bonnet on August 2023.

Mounties responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Aug. 1, 2023, near Provincial Road 313 and Channel Drive roughly 15 kilometres east of Lac du Bonnet.

It is believed that a 36-year-old was driving down PR313 and hit the rear of a minivan that was attempting to make a left-hand turn.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the minivan, an 82-year-old man, was tossed from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP says on Sept. 17, 2024, after an investigation, Mounties took 37-year-old Paul Robinson into custody and charged him with the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and impaired operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

Robinson is expected to appear in court on Nov. 4.
