Winnipeg man, 33, charged with manslaughter after homicide on Manitoba First Nation

Police say a 33-year-old Winnipeg man was charged with manslaughter in connection with a homicide in Black River last month.

Powerview RCMP say a 43-year-old man’s death in the Manitoba First Nation on Aug. 18 – initially deemed suspicious – was the result of homicide.

A suspect was charged on Saturday. He was remanded into custody.

Mounties were called to a home on Mayaa Road in the community of Black River on Aug. 18 for the report of a dead man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Black River is about 140 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
