Manitoba wildfires: evacuated Cranberry Portage residents to return home Sunday

By The Canadian Press

Hundreds of people who had to leave their homes in northwest Manitoba will be allowed to return this weekend.

The residents forced out of an area in and around Cranberry Portage because of wildfires will be able to go back home Sunday morning.

The provincial wildfire service says the fire line closest to Cranberry Portage is under control, and the weather has been cooperating.

The province says a small number of properties were damaged by the blaze.

Six water bombers and seven helicopters are assisting in suppression efforts.
