The victim was identified as Murdo Baker, a 24-year-old from South Indian Lake who was living in Winnipeg.
A week later police said they identified a man who was believed to be linked to Baker’s death.

On April 20, the Saskatoon Police Service took Dyson Irvin Sumner into custody.
Police believe Baker and Sumner were socializing with a group of people when an altercation took place, which resulted in Baker being shot.
Sumner has since been charged with second-degree murder, warrants for possession of a weapon, and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
