Man with knife confronts delivery driver inside restaurant: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say one man has been charged in connection to two attempted robberies.

WPS says around 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 4, officers were alerted to an attempted robbery of a delivery driver at a restaurant along Main Street.

The report indicated that a man armed with a knife confronted the delivery driver inside the store and demanded money.

Staff in the restaurant intervened by yelling, and the suspect fled the scene, police say.

Around 6:30 p.m., police were alerted to an attempted carjacking outside a casino on McPhillips Street.

The report indicated a man in his 40s was sitting in his vehicle when an unknown man opened his door and pointed a knife. The driver slammed the door, and the suspect fled.

A short time later, officers reportedly located the suspect on a bus outside the casino, and took him into custody.

Through an investigation, WPS determined that it was the same suspect in both incidents.

The 28-year-old from Winnipeg was charged with two counts of robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon, and failing to comply with a probation order.
