Police make arrest in case where woman was allegedly tied up, left in dumpster

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say they have arrested one of three suspects after a woman was allegedly physically assaulted, tied up and left in a dumpster earlier this month.

WPS investigators allege a 27-year-old victim was forced to attend a home on Carlton Street on Dec. 10. Police say the woman was physically assaulted until she lost consciousness and was tied up “for a significant period of time.” They say the suspects forced the still-restrained woman into a dumpster and abandoned her.

“Her screams for help were heard when she was assisted and freed,” police said in a news release last week. She was then taken to hospital, at which point police were notified.

Winnipeg police say Friday shortly after 2 p.m., officers attended a location in Saint Boniface “for an unrelated matter” and arrested one of those three suspects.

Romeo Chris Miles, 27, was charged with robbery, forcible confinement, and two counts of failure to comply with the condition of release order. He was detained in custody.

Police are still looking for two other suspects.

Joey Michael Audy, 35, is wanted for attempting to commit murder, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, robbery, and forcible confinement.

Evelyn Marie McKay, 40, is wanted for robbery and forcible confinement.

Winnipeg police say the public should not approach the suspects and should call 911.
