RCMP looking for suspect considered armed and dangerous on Bloodvein First Nation

Manitoba RCMP are looking for a suspect in connection to a shooting incident that happened outside a home on Bloodvein First Nation — roughly 284 km north of Winnipeg — around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Mounties from Bloodvein responded to a call, which stated a known man showed up outside the home and shots were fired. After the shots were fired, the man reportedly ran off to a second home, where more shots were fired.

RCMP confirmed no one was injured in either shooting.

After officers arrived at the scene, they began extensive patrols — including the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems — in the community but were unable to locate the man.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Byron Duck. He has been described as five-foot-nine, weighing 150 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

RCMP also notes that Duck is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large (violating conditions of release).

Duck is considered to be armed and dangerous. Nearby residents are being asked to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to RCMP.

If anyone has any information on Duck, they are asked to contact Bloodvein RCMP at 204-395-2020 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
