4,500 customers still without power across Manitoba after storm as crews continue restoration work

Manitoba Hydro is warning some customers that power knocked out by heavy winds may not be restored before the weekend, as it deals with hundreds of outages.
The Crown corporation that, as of Friday afternoon, there were still 350 outages affecting about 4,500 customers, mostly in and around Winnipeg.
It says crews are focusing their efforts in fixing damages that will return power to the greatest number of customers.
The public utility aims to have these outages restored by Friday night, but some that affected a smaller amount of people may not be fixed until Saturday.
Hydro also says there may be additional outages for crews to safely repair damaged equipment.
More than 30,000 lost power after a storm on Wednesday that saw fierce winds down trees and thousands of lightning strikes.
