2 charged after sword, rifle found inside stolen vehicle: WPS

Winnipeg police say two people were charged and weapons were seized following a traffic stop Monday.

WPS says around 11 a.m., officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle along Kane Avenue that was occupied by two people.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say they found two people inside a parked 2021 Hyundai Tuscon, which was previously listed as stolen from a dealership on Oct. 12.

Officers took both occupants — a 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman — into custody and allegedly seized the vehicle’s key fob and 15 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition.

Police then searched the vehicle and found a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle and a sword.

Both suspects have been charged with a combined 16 firearm and vehicle theft charges.
