By News Staff

Police say a Manitoba woman suspected of abducting her own daughter last month before fleeing to Ontario was taken into custody Tuesday.

St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP say 35-year-old Holly Malleck was arrested at a home in Waterloo, Ont. Her three-year-old daughter was unharmed and is in the care of another family member, according to police.

Police say Malleck will be taken back to Winnipeg where she faces a parental abduction charge.

The arrest by Waterloo Regional Police Service was made possible after officers received a tip, according to RCMP.

Police say they were notified of a potential custody dispute on July 7 after Malleck took custody of the child with the intent of depriving the child’s father of his parental rights.
