Police look for suspect after transit bus sex assault

By News Staff

Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect in connection with the reported sexual assault of a woman on board a transit bus in October.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the alleged sexual assault took place on Oct. 26, 2022.

Police say a 23-year-old woman was on a bus in the Portage Place area when an unknown male sat beside her.

“He unexpectedly touched her in an inappropriate sexual manner,” police said in a news release.

The victim told police she recognized the man from a previous similar incident on a bus in August 2022.

Winnipeg police say she was not physically injured during either incident.

The police’s sex crimes unit have released an image of the suspect. They have described him as a man in his 50s, about six-feet tall with a heavy build, short black hair, balding, a moustache and wearing prescription glasses.

Police advise the suspect’s appearance may have changed since the alleged incident was more than eight months ago.
