Suspect identified in murder of 31-year-old father from Peguis First Nation

Winnipeg police are searching for a suspect in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old man from Peguis First Nation.

Vincent Brian Jeffery Kipling was found injured on the night of May 10 near Stella Avenue and Main Street. Paramedics and officers attempted to save his life at the scene before transporting him to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

His family members have maintained they believe he was the victim of an attack.

The Winnipeg police’s homicide unit says it established a suspect during its investigation, but the whereabouts of Aaron Wayne Azure remain unknown. Police say the 38-year-old is wanted for manslaughter.

He is described as six-foot-two with a medium build, black hair, pierced ears, possibly a goatee, brown eyes and possibly wearing eyeglasses.

He has several tattoos including a spider on the left side of his neck; the letter “W” on the front of his neck; and the word “loyalty” on his right hand.

Winnipeg police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Loves ones of Kipling told CityNews earlier this month they felt robbed of a loving father and man who is being remembered as a bright light.

“He was a good person, he was able to just connect with anyone,” said his sister Madison Kipling.

Family members gathered for a candlelight vigil May 14 to honour Kipling’s memory.
