Winnipeg man stabbed on bus following altercation: police

Winnipeg police say a man was stabbed on a transit bus Friday following an altercation with at least two suspects.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it happened on a bus at Sargent Avenue and Balmoral Street around 5:15 p.m.

Investigators believe an altercation took place on the bus between the victim and two or three suspects. The victim was stabbed and the suspects fled, police say.

The bus immediately pulled over and police were contacted.

Officers say they located the man with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, and was later upgraded to stable.

No arrested have been made.

The WPS major crimes unit is investigating.
