Man dies from assault wounds: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a man has died from injuries that he suffered from an alleged assault in early April.

WPS say around 12:30 a.m. on April 11, officers responded to a report that a man had been assaulted.

Not long after police arrived at the scene, the man was taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Through the initial stages of their investigation, officers were able to determine the victim, 25-year-old Leo Charles Martin-Shea, had been assaulted between 8 and 8:30 p.m. on April 8.

It is believed he then returned home and didn’t contact police until April 11, when his condition worsened.

The injuries that Martin-Shea suffered were life-altering, according to WPS, and he was not able to recover. He died on April 19.

Police say at this point, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
