A 16-year-boy from a northern Manitoba First Nation was arrested after allegedly threatening to live stream an active shooting situation.
Manitoba RCMP were warned by Winnipeg police on June 30 of a video posted to social media in which the user made those threats and claimed to be in possession of firearms.
Both police forces investigated and a suspect from St. Theresa Point First Nation was identified.
On July 1, Island Lake RCMP arrested the teenager. He was remanded into custody on a charge of uttering threats.
“A search of the residence led to the seizure of ammunition for several firearms for which officers were advised could be found in the residence next door,” Island Lake RCMP said in a news release. “As a result of this search, four unsecured firearms were located and seized.”
Mounties continue to investigate.
