The owner of a store in Winnipeg’s North End is facing charges related to illegally selling cannabis products and bear spray cannisters.
The Winnipeg Police Service says a Liquor, Gaming, and Cannabis Control Act (LGCCA) investigation began March 28.
Manitoba Finance investigators and WPS officers inspected the business on Alfred Avenue near McKenzie Street. Police say the suspect – the owner of the business – was not present during the inspection.
Twenty-one bear spray cannisters (18 full, three partial) were seized and turned over to the WPS. Packaged cannabis products worth an estimated $1,570 were also seized.
Police say the cannabis products were not labelled for sale per federal regulations, and the business was not licensed to sell cannabis or bear spray.
Arrest warrants were issued for the suspect March 29.
The suspect was arrested at a home on Castle Ridge Drive near Falcon Ridge Drive on April 7.
The 28-year-old woman is facing multiple charges including possession for the purpose of selling cannabis and unauthorized sale of cannabis.
She was released on an appearance notice as mandated by the Criminal Code.
