Two charged after vehicle was stolen in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say two people have been charged after a vehicle was stolen on January 5.

WPS say they were informed of the vehicle theft after a man allegedly assaulted a 19-year-old woman and stole her wallet and keys along Redwood Avenue.

Following the incident, officers reported to the scene where they found the woman, and she was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Over the weekend, patrol officers say they noticed the stolen vehicle along McGregor Street and decided to follow it.

Some time later, the vehicle was taken to a gas station, at which point officers took all the occupants — one man and two women — into custody.

Upon searching everyone, one of the women was in possession of cocaine.

WPS say the man, an 18-year-old from Winnipeg has since been charged with robbery, failing to comply with a sentence and for having two warrants.

One of the women, a 25-year-old from Winnipeg was also charged with possession of a property obtained by a crime and possession of cocaine.

The other woman was released without charges.
