23-year-old woman dead after West End apartment fire

A woman who was hospitalized in critical condition following a fire in a West-End apartment building Tuesday morning died of her injuries.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Star Alicia Thomas.
Winnipeg police say due to the nature of the death, the homicide unit is investigating.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey building on Sargent Avenue near Arlington Street around 9 a.m. Crews say they arrived to find smoke in the building.
Firefighters helped some residents evacuate. Paramedics transported Thomas to hospital, where she passed away.
