Voters in Kirkfield Park go to the polls Tuesday in a byelection.
A former city councillor, a retired nurse and a correctional officer are going head-to-head to fill the western Winnipeg seat.
The constituency’s seat has been vacant since former Progressive Conservative cabinet minister Scott Fielding resigned last spring.
The PC candidate is Kevin Klein, the former city councillor for Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood. He most recently ran for mayor of Winnipeg.
Liberal candidate Rhonda Nichol worked as a nurse for 33 years, mostly at Grace Hospital.
Logan Oxenham, a juvenile correctional officer, is the candidate for the Manitoba NDP. He is the only major party candidate who lives in the constituency.
Dennis Bayomi is the candidate representing the Green Party of Manitoba. Bayomi ran in Kirkfield Park in the 2019 provincial election, getting eight per cent of the vote.

The suburban area has traditionally voted Tory, but swung to the NDP in 2007 and 2011.
Political analysts have pointed to the Kirkfield Park byelection as an indicator for the provincial election slated for next October.
