Winnipeg police charge two in unrelated drug incidents over weekend

Two people were charged over the weekend in a pair of unrelated drug busts in Winnipeg.

WPS say around 11 p.m. on Oct. 22, officers responded to reports of a break-and-enter along Stradbrook Street.

When officers arrived, they learned a 20-year-old man had locked himself out of his vacation rental suite, and he was trapped on the balcony.

Police say he gave them the access code to the suite, and found drugs and cash out in the open when they entered.

Officers helped the man off the balcony, then took the man into custody, and obtained and executed a search warrant.

They seized 3.6 ounces of cocaine, 12 ounces of fentanyl, 269 fentanyl pills, 500 grams of a benzocaine-cutting agent, roughly $25,000 in cash, and other potential drug trafficking items.

Winnipeg police have charged Vancouver man Handsome Raulia with two counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Earlier in the day, officers say they saw a man cycling with a hatchet attached to his backpack.

As a result, police took the man into custody, at which point they searched his bag and found 276 grams of methamphetamine, a second hatchet, a knife, and about $875 in cash.

The 34-year-old Winnipeg man was charged with possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon and possession of a concealed weapon.
