16-year-old charged after fatal assault in The Maples

A 16-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal assault in The Maples neighbourhood on Sept. 3.
Winnipeg police say they were called to a report of an assault at a home along Mapleglen Drive around 1 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries and tried to provide medical assistance.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
The WPS says officers later found a suspect believed to be involved in the assault. They were taken into custody and later charged.
Members of the WPS homicide unit say the investigation is still ongoing.
