Firefighter injured battling blaze at vacant home on Selkirk Avenue

A firefighter was injured putting out a fire at a vacant home on Selkirk Avenue on Saturday evening.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) says the firefighter was assessed on the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital in stable condition.

Fire crews say they were called to a fire in a vacant two-storey multi-family home on Selkirk near Aikins Street around 5:30 p.m.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the home.

The fire was under control by 6:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
