WestJet adds direct non-stop route from Winnipeg to Los Angeles

Winnipeg will be a little closer to Hollywood following an announcement by WestJet.
The Canadian carrier announced a new direct non-stop route from Winnipeg to Los Angeles.
Premier Heather Stefanson said she was encouraged this new route will drive economic opportunities, boost tourism, and help support Manitoba’s film and television industry.
“Over the years this industry has repeatedly cited the lack of a direct flight from Winnipeg to Los Angeles as an obstacle to enhancing the growth of industry locally,” said Stefanson.
“And addressing this will be a game changer for the industry, and we commend WestJet for taking action.”
WestJet says in addition to the new route to L.A. they will be increasing capacity by 80 per cent in and out of the Winnipeg airport this winter.
