Winnipeg police say a teenager is in custody after he twice attempted to rob five men in the city’s West End Saturday night, before the victims turned the tables and subdued him.
The WPS says the 15-year-old suspect, who was wearing a balaclava ski mask, first approached the group before midnight on Portage Avenue near Lipton Street.
The teenager allegedly pointed a Smith & Wesson BB air pistol in an attempt to rob them.
The victims, who ranged in age from 26 to 29, fled the area.
But police say the suspect approached them a second time while pointing the BB gun. This time, the men managed to subdue the boy and held him until police arrived.
Police say the suspect did not know the victims, and that alcohol is believed to be a factor.
The 15-year-old is facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and disguise with intent.
He was detained in custody.
