14-month-old baby fatally struck by car in northern Manitoba First Nation

Police say a 14-month-old baby girl is dead after she was struck by a car in the driveaway of a home in northern Manitoba Sunday evening.
Manitoba RCMP say the fatal collision occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on the Shamattawa First Nation.
Officers determined the girl went in front of the car while it was parked in the driveaway.
Police say the driver was unaware she was there, and struck her accidentally.
The baby was rushed to the nursing station, where she was pronounced dead.
“At this point in the investigation, no criminality is suspected,” Shamattawa RCMP said in a statement.
An investigation is underway.
