All Manitoba children 6 months to 4 years can receive COVID vaccine starting Friday

All parents with children aged six months to four years will be able to book COVID-19 vaccination appointments starting Friday.

The announcement from the province comes a couple of weeks after Dr. Brent Roussin said the province had expanded vaccine eligibility to include the age group.

Nearly a month ago, the vaccines were approved by Health Canada, and some provinces began rolling out the shots almost immediately.

Due to a limited number of vaccines, Manitoba chose to prioritize children deemed to be the most at-risk, such as those with known medical conditions and Indigenous children.

So far, the province has received nearly 15,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine, with an additional 28,800 on the way.

Appointments are available at regional vaccine locations, public health offices, and medical clinics. Appointments can be booked online, or by calling 1-844-626-8222.
