Winnipeg stabbing charges laid against teen

By CityNews Staff

Winnipeg police say a 17-year-old has been charged after a stabbing at a shelter in the north of the city this week

A WPS tactical unit said officers responded to a report of a stabbing just before midnight on Tuesday. Sometime after they arrived, they found the teen who was reportedly holding a machete.

Police say they also found two other people within the shelter who had been stabbed in their upper bodies.

Witnesses say an argument was taking place before the incident. They claim the argument escalated, resulting in the attack.

One victim was taken to hospital in stable condition, while the other did not require medical attention.

The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon.
