Study finds Winnipeg most violent city in Canada

Winnipeg is officially the most violent city in Canada according to a recent study from public think-tank group the Fraser Institute.
The study shows that Winnipeg has the highest rate of violent crime rate at 675 crimes per 100,000 people, more than twice the national average of 262.
They define violent crimes as murder, robbery, or assault with a weapon.
The study looked at 37 cities across the country using data from 2019-2022, the most recent years available, with Winnipeg being the at top, and Sherbrooke Quebec coming in with the lowest rate at 102.
As for other major cities, Calgary ranked 11th on the list, Vancouver was 16th, Montreal at 18th and Toronto was at 24th.
