Suspect charged after body found in Winnipeg North End home

A 29-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the discovery of a body inside a home in Winnipeg’s North End Friday evening.

Police are investigating it as a homicide.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it was responding to a report of an individual armed with weapons on Magnus Avenue near William Whyte school around 6:17 p.m.

Police arrived on location to find the male suspect outside a residence. They took him into custody.

A search of the home revealed the dead body of an adult man. He was later identified as 31-year-old Franklin Aaron Tobacco of Winnipeg.

The suspect remains in custody.
