Charges laid in death of Ricardo Hibi

WINNIPEG (CITYNEWS) – Winnipeg police have laid charges in relation to the December death of Ricardo Hibi.

First repsonders were called to a home on McGee Street near Sargent Ave around 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 17. Hibi, 34, was found at the home suffering of stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.

A couple days later WPS issued a Canada-wide warrant for suspect 21-year-old Kane Ashley Antonio Moar. Police arrested Moar late Saturday night, at which point he kicked an officer and claimed he was someone else.

He’s since been charged with second-degree murder, being unlawfully at large, assaulting a peace officer, and identity fraud.

Moar remains in custody.
