Manitoba water levels receding following rainfall: flood bulletin

Water levels on most of Manitoba’s rivers and creeks have peaked and are now receding, according to the provincial government’s latest flood bulletin.
That’s the status Wednesday after heavy rainfall across western and southern Manitoba led to widespread flooding.
Some communities, such as Brandon and Portage la Prairie, have yet to reach peak levels.
“While water levels are receding in most areas, Manitoba remains in an active flood response phase. High water levels remain on some rivers, creeks, lakes and drainage systems. Flood-related impacts remain in affected communities,” the province said.
There is no significant rainfall expected in the next several days, providing relief for the communities that were hit the hardest.
Heavy rains forced people from their homes in the Parkland region.
Further north, the own of Swan River is cleaning up after floodwaters hit last week, flooding basements and forcing some residents to flee.
Canadian Armed Forces team arrived in region over the weekend to help.
Last week’s rainfall also closed more than 60 highways in the province.
