Stabbings, aggravated assaults among violent offences during long weekend in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say this past long weekend was marked by several violent offences and serious injuries, as officers responded to reports of stabbings, aggravated assaults, a shooting and more.

Investigations into all incidents is ongoing.

Saturday

Shortly before 1 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a weapon on Langside Street. A man in his 20s had serious injuries; he was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made.

Around 10 a.m., officers were called to Gordon Avenue about a man in his 40s being shot inside a home. The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

At about 11 p.m., police were called about a violent robbery near Sinclair Street and Dufferin Avenue. Two men went to hospital with serious injuries.

Sunday

Around 5:15 a.m., police received a report about a man who had been stabbed on Boyd Avenue. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

At 11:30 p.m., a robbery involving a firearm took place on Stanley Street. Winnipeg police say a man was robbed while outside, and assaulted with a weapon. He was taken to hospital and was upgraded to stable condition.

Monday

Before 9:30 p.m., police were called to a stabbing on Main Street. A man in his 30s was taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Around 9:45 p.m., authorities were told about a social media post showing a woman being seriously assaulted by two people on Salter Street. The suspects fled and left in an allegedly stolen vehicle that was previously reported to police. The assault victim has not yet been identified.

Tuesday

During a party at a home on Bowman Street, police say a physical altercation took place and a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized with serious injuries. A 40-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. He was detained in custody.
