Winnipeg man charged for allegedly drugging, sexually assaulting teen

Winnipeg police say a 31-year-old man has been charged with allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in February.

WPS says in March, officers began an investigation after receiving a report that a 14-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a man she met on social media.

It is believed that the teen met the man in person in February, when the man allegedly drugged her and sexually assaulted her.

Following an investigation, police took 31-year-old John Dustin Verde Bries into custody on March 22 at an apartment complex on Leila Avenue.

Bries has since been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication, and obtaining sexual services from a person under 18 years of age.
