Two women charged in abduction of 2-year-old

Two women were charged in connection to the abduction of a 2-year-old which resulted in a province-wide amber alert Friday afternoon.
Winnipeg police say they located the child and both suspects at a strip mall on McPhillips Street.
The suspects Caitlin Cassandra Monkman, 30 and Kineisha Rose Jawbone, 25, were arrested and the child was transported to hospital in stable condition. No injuries were reported.
During the investigation police learned that a dispute between the child’s biological mother and the two suspects occurred at the child’s residence earlier Friday morning.
The women allegedly assaulted the mother with a weapon and abducted the child by taxi.
A citizen notified the police after recognizing the suspects and the child based on the amber alert.
Both suspects were in custody and were charged with abduction of person under fourteen years of age, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon.
Monkman was also charged with Fail to comply with probation order.
Jawbone faces additional charges of carrying concealed weapon, non-compliance with conditional sentence order and possession of methamphetamine.
