Manitoba teen injured in fatal highway collision airlifted to Winnipeg hospital

An Ontario man is dead and a teenage boy from Manitoba was seriously injured in a collision with a semi-truck on the highway near Winnipeg early Wednesday morning.
St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP says the collision happened on Highway 59 near Prefontaine Road in the RM of Tache shortly after midnight.
Police say the vehicle with two occupants inside was travelling north on Highway 59 when it “crossed into the path” of a semi-truck going south.
“The vehicle collided with the semi-truck, pushing both vehicles into the ditch,” RCMP said in a news release.
The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Ontario, was pronounced dead. The 13-year-old boy in the passenger seat, who is from Steinbach, Man., was taken by STARS to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 45-year-old man from Alberta, was not injured.
Mounties are continuing to investigate.
