You’ve probably a Team Canada sweater all over social media, and if not, maybe you’ve seen the prime minister wearing it.
After the Canadian television show ‘Heated Rivalry‘ blew up, everyone wants to get their hands on Shane Hollander’s famous Team Canada sherpa.
“I’m online a lot, and I was seeing everyone on TikTok being like where can we make the sherpa jacket? Or how can we make the sherpa jacket? People were trying to figure out ways to make their own. I came into the studio and was like, to Beth, you know what class we should do? We should do the sherpa jacket,” explained Gillian McDonnell, the co-owner of Lilax Studio.
Beth Syrnyk, another co-owner of Lilax Studio, added, “Then one of our students happened to come in one day, and she said *gasps* you guys should do the sherpa jacket, you guys should do a class on that, and we’re like yep let’s do it for sure.”
For some, this show has given something meaningful to Canadians.
“I know for a while there, it felt like we lost our Canadian pride a bit with everything that happened at the tail end of the pandemic. So I think with everything going on right now, for the last year, it’s another way we can rally together,” said McDonnell.
Syrnyk adds, “You shouldn’t have to always wait for somebody to make it for you. And then you have to buy it online. So we’re really, really excited that people want to sew this jacket and not just go out and buy it.”
