Winnipeg police say a man is facing a long list of charges for allegedly attempting to steal copper wire from a Manitoba Hydro facility on Henlow Bay Monday morning.
The Winnipeg Police Service alleges the man broke into the property and was in the process of collecting copper wire.
“He attempted to hide, but security personnel monitoring surveillance video provided real-time updates to officers,” police said in a news release.
Authorities say the man was found hiding between a fenced compound and an adjacent building.
While taking him into custody, police allege officers seized a knife in his possession and identification belonging to another individual. The suspect was also wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and breaching previous release conditions.
Eric Albert Peters, 42, has been charged with break and enter, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of an identity document, breaching his undertaking, and failing to attend court. He was remanded into custody.
